Here are a few of my essential items for skin prep when I'm on set!
Nuturing Force Blot Out Offensive is the only oil control product I've used that actually WORKS.
Clarins Blue Orchid Oil is a must for dehydrated skin. It sinks in quickly and makes your talent's/client's face feel like a million bucks!
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre is a quadruple-duty product: Moisturizer, Makeup Remover, Moisturizing Mask and Shave Cream
Bioderma Micellar for Oily and Sensitive skin types, awesome cleansing power with both!
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Clear is the life-saving lip-saver we all need in our kits! Dry lips won't stand a chance against this balm
Mehron Skin Prep Pro is a wonderful product to stop sweating on the face, especially for shoots on location with a hot climate
How I prep skin on set:
My skin prep process is something I like to keep very simple due to time restraints, and typically it's since most models I work with know how to take care of their skin. That being said, this prep is for unproblematic skin to minor problematic skin.
- Quickly evaluate skin
- Cleanse
- Address problem areas
- Apply oil control if needed
- Moisturize according to skin's properties
- DONE!
*everyone has different skin, keep this in mind when working
On the occasion one may run into some severe dryness or a breakout, that's where things may get tricky. This happens a lot when working with the public for bridal or special occasion makeup. The only way to help keep things running smoothly the day of makeup is to stress to your client to upkeep a skincare regimen. A few quick fixes to keep on hand would be sheet masks, acne spot treatments, gentle peel pads and a thick moisturizing cream/balm.
